A feel-good painting. I used my widest brush to swipe vivid and bright colours and as the white canvas got covered, the swipes felt like speed and haste – the idea about the title was born. Soft grey helped to provide balance and softness, and as you look closer, nuggets of colour and texture catch the attention.
Poppies are such a joy. Here I chose to add a bit of colour to the petals to engage the viewer; speckles of gold and yellow provide warmth and encourage the eyes to glide, but soft grey offers space and visual rest.
